      Hi all

Just joined here 2day and it looks like a really good bike forum.

My question is, I have a 2006 Trek Remedy 6 and I’m looking at replacing/upgrading the rear shock. Eye to eye mines measures 200mm but what I’m not sure about is the correct length of travel required for my bike.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

      Cheers

Welcome, glad to have you. If nobody can answer your question you should be able to find it on the net through the owners manual (most of them are available online). Or, your LBS should be able to tell you what you need and make recommendations as to new shocks. And if you can find it cheaper than they can sell it, get it yourself…

It comes stock with a Manitou Swinger 3 way as the rear shock.

The Remedy 6 model had 150mm of rear travel.

Edit: I think Manitou only made the 200mm(7.875") eye to eye shock in a 50mm(2.0") stroke length. But, it’s probably safer to just make sure by taking the air out of yours and measuring to be sure. 😉

      Trek’s rather meager tech info.

This appears to be your shock:

A little googling didn’t turn up a rebuild kit for the Manitou, that’s lame…so as for upgrading, the Fox RP23 comes in your size, AND you can get an inexpensive rebuild kit for it later down the road.

Good suggestion Slacker. The Fox RP23 is awesome rear shock.
