Hi! Check your local bike shops for info. Or contact bhmba.org. There is Black Hills 40, but this one not for beginners for sure from what I’ve read.
      Good luck ;)

I rode a part of Centennial Trail last October and planning to go back this Spring – wanna ride the whole thing. Super nice trail.
About your race, set a goal to finish it, not to win. Then you will have fun. And make sure you’re able to ride that distance before signing in. I’ve raced once 25 miles while never rode that distance before and that wasn’t easy.

The Black HIlls are full of great singletrack–I only scratched the surface on my pass-throughs.

Centennial Trail should be great for training because you can really put on the miles there covering a wide variety of training.

Here’s a couple of my faves for sweet riding and you can get some mileage by combining them, especiallly if you add on the lollipop loop up Old Baldy:

THey usually run a shorter distance, beginner friendly race as part of the Black Hills Fat Tire Festival. Last year they had a nice 15-miler.

Hi, Gunshow! In my personal opinion you don’t NEED GPS. You can have it if you have already one. Race course is very well marked and you won’t get lost. To track your ride you can use your smartphone with some app.

This is the main reason I like Singletracks – everybody help each other, like an extended family 😃
