Just put a absolute black oval on trail bike and curious to what others think that have tried one. I rode a bike with one on some flat ground for a stint but my riding mainly consists of hard technical  climbs before you get to shred. Had a bio pace on my first mtb waaaaaay back and like you’ll find they didn’t do their homework. Good news though AB did do theirs. Just wish I would have been turned on to a oval when I first got back to riding  as it is the best money I’ve spent on the bike by far. The cadence you find after time on a road bike clipped in is essentially what you’ll feel with flats climbing steep technical terrain in the trails is what Ive found. Getting older means less of the hard stuff more of the easy and one ride with the oval made what I started to dislike a enjoyable ride again ,not to mention knees felt great and could ride longer as well. Oh and wheelies are just a joy to ride with consistent pedal stroke
