Has anyone heard of Nirve brand mountain bikes? I’m going to look at a used one for sale, but could not find any info on the internet about these. It was bought new in 2004 (Model unknown), has full suspension, shimano shifters (not sure what model), disc brakes, he’s asking $150. Any help/ thoughts on this would be greatl appreciated.

Looks like they were really low-end, as in below walmart specs.
It can’t be a good sign that they stopped making mountain bikes after one year and switched over to beach cruisers.

I would look for a more mainstream brand hardtail in that price range. Something like a Giant, Trek or Specialized.

I know Bombardier built up a custom Nirve Clunker. Mountain bike? Sorta. Retro? Definitely.

Wow, somehow the Crank Bros sticker totally brings it all together…

Thanks for the input, I already have a wally world bike. I guess I will be passing on this one. The local bike shop has some good used MTB’s that are a little higher priced, I think I will take another look at them. Thanks again!

No problem! (And welcome to Singletracks, by the way)

I bought my 2003 Specialized Rockhopper in the fall of 2004 for $150 on Craigslist. It server me well as my primary mountain bike for 4 years, and I still commute to work on it.

It is possible to find a decent ride for under $200 if you keep your eyes open.
