      Hi guys,

I’ve been mountain biking for a while now but I still ride in gym shorts and a t-shirt. All of my money has gone torwards the bike! Anyway, I have a three day trip planned to Dupont and Pisgah at the beginning of March. (I’ve been there before but always in August) I’d imagine it will be cold and I’ll need to gear up. I want to get a nice jacket and some baggy shorts. (Chamois Pad???).

      What do you guys wear?

These guys make alot of cool stuff I wear their 3/4 pants that have snap in padded lyrca. they also make full length pants and a variety of baggies. All with padded lyrca liners. They make alot of nice outerwear too.

What kind of Jacket were you looking for? Softshell? shell with layers?

Looks like endura makes great stuff. I really like the singletrack shorts, but $80+$40 for the liner might be a bit out of my price range. If I found an exceptional deal I might be willing to spring for them though.

I saw an add for Hoss Stallion shorts on MTBR and they look pretty nice anyone have any experience with them?

As far as Jackets go, I’m not really sure. I want something that is water proof or pretty resistant. I also want something I can wear off the bike and not look ridiculous. Aside from a longer back, what makes a bike-specific jacket different from a running jacket like this?

I hope you’re not to late in hearing this but….

I bought a pair of hoss stallion shorts two weeks ago. The first time I wore them out riding they ripped badly. However it is that they make them, the inseam is far to easy to split. The liner fits fine its the outside layer that is stiched to small. What I started to wear is a liner w/ chamois and either dickies shorts or a non-flashy/non-colorful pair of swim trunks without one of those liners sown in. Both work great for me. Also, just thought I mention this, but when I ride in the cold alot during the winter time in AL and my legs do just fine. They stay warm while riding due to all the leg pumping. But that might be location specific.

      Uh oh,
I got some positive feedback from a few online reviews and some forum posts and an a good deal at blue sky cycling ($39.98) so I pulled the trigger. Hope I have better luck than you did! I’ve heard the guys at Hoss are really nice and big on customer service. You might try giving them a call. Worth a shot.
