The lower trails have dried out in southeast Wyoming’s Curt Gowdy State Park to the delight of area mountain bikers who can now once again rip some of the best singletrack trails in the U.S. The Curt Gowdy trail network, located halfway between Laramie and Cheyenne, was designated as one of the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s (IMBA) Epic Rides in 2009 (See all IMBA Epic Rides here).
"I have been riding Lower Gowdy for about two weeks," said Dewey Gallegos, owner of the Pedal House bike shop in Laramie. "I rode everything down there today (Sunday, March 25) with my friend Miguel Rosales, and it was completely clear. I have not ridden the upper sections, like Stone Temple and all those connectors, but we hiked them last week and they were too sloppy to ride without damaging the trail."
