Hi, I’m going to be starting racing next year and I have my first race all picked out.
the race has cat1/2/3/4/5 and cat1/2/3/4/5 masters35+
my question is: Since I know I am going to be slow I should be in the cat5 non masters.
but what I can’t get my head around is why is there a cat5 masters?
Since the masters are the guys with 20 years racing experience shouldn’t they just move to cat4 or 3?
Why make me a 40 year old have to race with the 18 year olds?Trying to figure this out make me want to smash my face into the keyboard.
Maybe I’m just complaining because I’m nervous. -

I’m not 100% sure of the cats for MTB but if its the same as road then cat 5 masters would basically be beginners or guys/gals out for the fun of it, that are over 35 years old. On the other hand cat1 masters are the "older" guys/gals (over 35) that are considered the top athletes in the field.
Non masters would be the same as above but under 35 years old.
