I’m going to be moving to the UK in the near future, and I’m bringing my Giant Trance X3. I’d like to do a major clean and tune-up on it before I go. Not quite to the level of rebuilding the hubs or suspension, but I want it in top shape. To this end, I’m looking for a really good guide on cleaning the bike—something like a big checklist of things to do to make sure it’s ready to rock. Has anybody seen a good blog post or page about this? I’ve done a little searching, but haven’t come up with much.

On a second note, I’m also interested in how to protect the bike from water, as it’s going to be really wet where I’m living and riding (Northeast England). So if you’ve seen anything really insightful about that, I’d appreciate a link to it as well.

      Hey man,

Element22 wrote a detailed 3-part series on spring maintenance recently. Of course, the maintenance doesn’t need to be done in the spring… sounds like exactly what you need:

This is great! I must’ve missed that when it was posted.
