Some friends and I do a weekly ride every Wednesday evening on Monte Sano. The route changes weekly and sometimes in the middle of the ride. Seeing as I finally have a Contour HD camera, I figured I would record yesterday’s ride and post it up here for those who haven’t seen the trails yet. I was pleased with how the videos turned out, but keep in mind that helmet cams tend to flatten everything. Some of the rocks you see are larger than they appear, and the ones that look big are REALLY big. I hope that this motivates some of you to come down for the Fat Tire Festival. So, on to the videos in the order we rode them and all videos were recorded in HD. Enjoy!!!

First up was the Family Trail. Smooth, fast and mostly flat. You can really carry some speed through here.

Next was the Fire Tower Trail. Wide and fast. There are some sections where you can choose different lines, not the most fun trail, but not the worst.

This beginning of this video has a small portion of the North Plateau Loop. This trail is smooth and fast in sections, tight in others, and rocky in yet another section. A really fun trail, but we only used a portion to get to the Cold Springs Trail, which starts when we make the left switchback. Cold Springs is rocky, steep and fast. The first part is downhill mostly, the second video is the second half of the trail with a really steep climb.

Then we crossed the road to pick up the top portion of Tollgate Trail, which leads to Huck and Roll. Huck and Roll is our downhill trail that is in the process of final approval. We only do the top portion, which has a few jumps. The lower section has some serious drops, one of which is shown at the end of the video.

This is High Trail. High Trail has some difficult technical climbs, but is mostly flat and techy. It’s a fun trail.

Finally we have the top section of Bluffline Trail. This section is SERIOUSLY rocky, even more so than what it looks like on the video. If you want to improve your technical skills, this is the trail to ride. The hikers that we came across had a look on their face that said: “You idiots are really riding bikes down this?!?!?!” I had a video of the rest of Bluffline, which is less rocky, but we were losing daylight so the video didn’t turn out well.:frusty:

Nice vids. Man, the last one looked pretty hairy, and I am sure it was much worse in person.

      Thanks for posting!
