Man Dies after MTB Crash at Snow Summit

Wow, Snow Summit just can’t get a break:

A 54-year-old Valencia man died of injuries he sustained after falling off his mountain bike, authorities said.

According to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office website, Mario Steven Cruz died about 10:35 a.m. Saturday at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Cruz was riding a mountain bike down a trail at Snow Summit on Friday morning and fell off.

An off-duty ski patrol employee was called to the scene about 9:35 a.m. Friday and found Cruz wasn’t breathing, the website said.

Cruz was taken to Bear Valley Community Hospital in Big Bear Lake and then flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died.
