TRAVERSE CITY – Another Iceman Cometh Challenge is officially in the books.
The 30 mile point-to-point mountain bike race from Kalkaska to Traverse City was held this past Saturday.
The annual event celebrated its 23rd year in 2012 and continues to boom in popularity and participation.
A record 5,300 riders registered for the race this year.
Conditions were nearly perfect for such an event, depending on who you ask. Unpredictable northern Michigan weather patterns are part of what has made the Iceman one of the biggest mountain bike races in the United States.
