I rented a demo Ripley LS with GX components this weekend and loved it (compared to my entry level hardtail). The shop sells all of their demo bikes at the end of the season. They want a $300 deposit and would sell it for $3,200. But it sells as-is, which seems risky to me even though the price seems great for the bike. They think it’ll end up with just around 200 miles on it since most renters only go out for about 10 miles each day.

Is it wise to purchase this way? It’s a lot of money for a bike to me but seems like a great deal. Am I wrong? Are there other methods for getting a great deal on a bike like this? I have the patience to wait until the winter season if needed.

Thanks for any and all advice in advance@
