Need a hint for Day 1 contest photos?
Trail #1 was featured on a blog post earlier this summer.
Trail #2 is an IMBA Epic trail!
Good luck folks!

I’m assuming staff bloggers are not eligible, but if I can just score (another) Singletracks t-shirt I’ll be happy. 😃

Day 3 and my eyes are bleeding after searching for the past 2 hours and coming up dry…ah well, there’s always the sticker!

Something about the trail and the plants surrounding it immediately told me that was a North Carolina trail. It just had that Appalachian mountain area look to it and the trail surface was super smooth so that also helped narrow out a LOT of the trails in that area. Had they posted something with the lake in the background it would have been a dead giveaway for anyone who had ever ridden there.
Todays pic of the wooden berm was an even tougher one for me. Nondescript pictures like that always kill me. If you hadn’t already seen that pic on the site, or ridden that trail, there’s only a few other clues in the picture to help you narrow the location down.

Agreed. North Carolina was the first place I checked. I just missed picture 😢
They all have been beautiful pics though!

If you haven’t submitted answers to today’s photos yet, I’m feeling quite generous today so here’s a couple hints…
Trail #1 is in Moab if you didn’t guess that already.
And Trail #2 was featured in today’s email newsletter.
C’mon, even if you haven’t played yet I just gave you a chance at 2 easy points and some free Singletracks stickers!

My eyes are starting to go cross-eyed. Not sure I’ll find that second picture. Joetutt just might pass me! (He owns the tie-breaker.)
Some beautiful pictures out there, so many trails, so little time!
I love the contest! (A few days too long though
)

Wherever that pic is, it’s very green…and mountain-y 😃

Yep, that’s all I’m chanting in my head.
Green and mountains, green and mountains, green and mountains 😃

Tip #1 of ST.com Name That Trail Photo Contest: Look at AK_Dan’s albums. 😃
He’s got some incredible shots and always a favorite for the contest.

Spoken like a true ST contest pro, joetutt! We might have to whip out some photoshop tricks for the next name that trail photo contest to make it a little harder for ya
How gracious of AK_Dan to not sweep this contest – he’s probably too busy riding his bike someplace awesome!

Thanks for the tip, joetutt!
@Mudhunny
Harder? You want to make the contest harder? 😮
I was spending a few hours each day looking for them as it was. I couldn’t imagine it being even harder!
Granted, I think part of my problem is I forget I’m looking for a certain picture and just enjoy all the cool scenery 😆Well, no chance for a last minute victory (that went to Joe
) so it’s time for bed so I’m rested for tomorrow’s ride.

I always end up adding trails to my wish list from each photo contest

DEFINITELY!
I was searching for another picture to show my wife and found the trail that I missed today. I really need to remember to stop looking at pictures and focus on the one I’m searching for. That’s the second time it’s happened! I should have been more patient and we could have had a three way tie!
Oh well, maybe next time 😆

Man, this year was tough! Barton Creek? I can’t believe I stumbled across that one 😕 Who would have thought that was Texas? I was convinced it was North Carolina or Georgia at first. That was sheer luck and I needed it to clinch a spot 😆 Coopers Rock was another good one and Joseph D Grant…tough! I can’t believe I missed Pee Wee’s 😠 I must have seen that shot a hundred times too.
@mudhunny: Photoshop tricks? That would make it pretty interesting. I did noticed some rock stretching going on at Curt Gowdy State Park 😕 I think I did a double or even a triple take on that one. If it gets much more photoshopped than that I’m gonna be in trouble 😆 Yeah, you’re right. AK_Dan is probably cruising down some incredible stretch of singletrack, in some far away land gathering photos for the next contest.

I even rode the Barton Creek Greenbelt a month ago and STILL didn’t get that pic right.

Great effort everyone! Thanks for participating in the contest. I love digging up a cool picture that inspires me to go someplace new, so I am glad you guys found some new trails for your wishlists – near or far!
This contest was a little harder this time, just thought everyone would be bored of seeing so many photos of trails in Colorado if I got to pick all my wishlist trails
I am getting some ideas, though, for the next photo contest and we’ll definitely shorten it to 7-8 days instead.
Jared13 – a valiant effort, my friend! I know 4th place sucks, you work so hard and get no glory – so I’m gonna send you a Singletracks t-shirt for making the leaders work a little harder.
Thanks again everyone!

What were you doing out in Texas?

Visiting with my future in-laws. Steph’s cousin lives in Austin and some of her family is nearby in Houston. We called it a "vacation" but I’ve never been so happy to be back home in my life!
