Just wanted to post about an awesome trail I rode last week while working on Lake Tahoe. Hole in the Ground (HITG) is an awesome trail about 10 miles east of Truckee. I recommend it to anyone traveling in the area, I am positive the locals know all about it. This trail had it all, good climbs, singletrack, rock gardens, flowing downhill, chunk, and some very technical downhill including some stairs from hell. I recommend this for the intermediate to advanced rider. If you make a loop out of it your looking at around 18 miles. I started across from the Boreal Ski Resort, after you make it to Soda Springs you have some road riding, you have to keep and eye out for Bunny Hill Rd its not marked very well and if you miss it….like I did you will end up at Donner Summit, which ended up being an awesome view but added about 5 miles to the ride. Bunny Hill Rd is the only way back over to Boreal. Anyways awesome ride, last thing the map on here doesn’t show it as a loop, in fact I am not sure what the map on here is showing as only a portion of it is actually HITG. I can send the GPX file if you message me.

Glad you liked it. Hole in the ground was my favorite ride during my Tahoe vacation and remains one of my favorite rides anywhere. I would love to go back!

I liked it so much I included it in one of my articles:
