Gloves… All the same, or some better than others?

So, over the holiday weekend my dad was in town and my daughter wanted to show him how well she can ride her bike. We looked and looked for her helmet but couldn’t find it. So I allowed her to use mine. I keep my gloves and eye wear in my helmet, hanging from my grips. Well, needless to say, after her using the helmet I can only find my eye wear.

I need a new pair of gloves and need some suggestions. Would like to stay under $40 if possible. No real preference in winter vs. summer riding though winter is around the corner and I do plan to ride during it. My last pair were cuffless and I like that fit along with NO velcro straps.

Thoughts?
