Discovery Ski Area will have — for the first time — downhill mountain biking trails this summer.
In a story posted on its website, the area announced that the trails are located below the Silver Chief chairlift on the backside of the mountain. So far, it includes two trails with over 1,000 vertical feet of single track paired with “gnarly turns and elevated jumps.”

I don’t know what the biking will be like, but Discovery Basin may be the best unknown little ski area in the world. The backside is full of gnar and wicked good fun.
The nearby town of Philipsburg is my favorite small town anywhere. Great vibe, wonderful people, and a cool, out of the way location. I never explored the riding in the area as it seemed to be mostly old mining roads.
