At their April 16 meeting, Sawyer County supervisors approved the concept of a mountain bike park which will be constructed at Hatchery Creek County Park by the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA).

A mountain bike park is similar to a BMX bike park or skateboard park, where cyclists ride a circuit through which they encounter a variety of features. But the trails, bumps, rollers and berms are constructed of dirt.

CAMBA plans to spend around $25,000 to construct the park, which will include a skills area in the grove of pines west of the park pavilion, and a “pump track” in the flat area and hillside between the ski trails southwest of the wooden bridge over Hatchery Creek. No trees will be removed, and the trails will be constructed of dirt.
