      Hi,

just purchased this frame. Is the chain marks on chain stays anything to be concerned about OR just normal use ??

      Thanks

That looks fairly normal. At least, it doesn’t look too far beyond cosmetic damage. Can you tell if it’s just the frame finish that’s been damaged, or are there deep gouges in the chainstay tubing?

Can definitely recommend adding a chainstay protector and a clutch derailleur.

It looks to me like it’s a common cosmetic damage from chain-slap. Nothing to be worried about. But if you ride in wet conditions, I suggest sanding and painting that part to prevent oxidation. Afterwards, put a wrap-around chainstay protector to prevent damage in the future. An old mouse pad, secured with cable ties would work in a pinch.
