New to the forums…I need to change my 36T chain ring. I have a 104mm BCD Shimano DEORE crankset, its 2 x 10 36/22T. I need to change just the bigger chain ring 36T, however I seem to only be finding middle rings from a 3×9 set or single gear 36t rings. Can I use either of the above? Is there a difference between a single speed chain ring vs multi in terms of tooth geometry for shifting which is important to take into account? I also see 36T chain rings that say for 9 or 8 speed for example, does this also make a difference or what are the critical boundary conditions? Many thanks so I can get my mtb back on the trails!
