Does anyone know if this is a good headset? I’m looking to replace the stock headset on my ’09 GF Marlin, and I’m considering the Cane Creek S1 and the S3 models. The S3 is $20 more at my LBS, but I don’t really know if it’s worth it. Any input on either one would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Actually, just got a call back from my LBS & they told me the s-series wouldn’t work with my Marlin (I guess b/c of the G2 geometry). They said I would have to go with the Cane Creek ZS or XX, or the FSA Orbit Z, which are definitely pricier than the Cane Creek S-series. So, does anyone have any recommendations on these models? Thanks again!

Not sure if you already go this handled or not but the zero stack cane creek headsets are typically for bikes which use an internal or integrated headset. Without knowing your bike, I’d guess that is what you have. I don’t have that specific model of cane creek but I do have several threadless models that they make and each and every one of them has quietly taken a beating over the years without any trouble. They definitely make a nice headset.

Cane Creek or FSA work great …With CaneCreek you have a choice between the ZS-3 which works fine or the more expensive 110 .
