Someone passed this video along and it’s pretty amazing. The guy steeling the bike is so quick and smooth, it’s easy to understand how bikes get stolen even in broad daylight. Luckily the woman and her co-workers act fast and stop the guy in his tracks!

Wow, suddenly I feel like I shouldn’t bother with my flimsy little cable lock.
The thief seems to be wearing flipflops…maybe my eggbeaters pedals are a better deterrent… 😆

Damn, an opportunity to take that bastard out of his misery was totally missed! I would have never let him go until the Police would have arrived or he would have forced me to deal a serious punishment on him…LOL.

Apparently the thief was confronted by a security guard afterward and threatened him with a knife. Not sure I would have wanted to tangle with that guy… but at least he didn’t get away with the bike!

Ya would have been awesome had he just gone out and fully tackled him. What a dink.
Reminds me of a video I came across the other day on Youtube:

Man, after seeing this video I’ve been super paranoid about locking up my bike. Yesterday I was at the library and I kept peeking at the bike to make sure it was still there!
The local news posted an article about the incident with some fresh details, sounds like the thief actually had his own bike confiscated after he was taken away (though I’m not sure how he planned on riding away with two bikes!).

If I ride to a restaurant I always get a seat where I can watch the bike. If the bike is going to be out of sight I like to take important parts off (skews, seat and post, etc;), and a cable running through everything. If that doesn’t work hopefully the XO brakes set up motto style should leave a trail of blood to follow. 😆 Removing a few critical bolts will make it unrideable.

I would have broken that guy’s face if it had been my bike
