I’m looking for a smaller pack with 100oz capacity for my girlfriend. All the ones that are not "discontinued" are big day pack style with more storage than she could possibly need. Some of our rides are over 3 hours long and the added fluid capacity is nice to have.
The camelbaks I have found seem alright but I wonder what they do for the hose. Do they just let it dangle? The Osprey and Hydrapak that I have have magnetic holders and work awesome for keeping the hose from flopping around. Thanks for any input!

Will a smaller men’s pack not work?

Not sure, if it is available in the US Deuter Compact EXP 10SL

Men and women have pretty different anatomy, I could see the ladies needing different strap shapes 😃

The women’s Camelbak Magic is equivelant to the men’s Rogue. It’s very comfy but only 70oz.
My wife has the LUXE. It’s 3 liters and will hold her Canon 40d SLR with a 200mm lens. That may be too big for what you’re looking for.
Oh, and yes camelbak lets the hose dangle.
Does her bike have a water bottle cage? 70oz hydration pack + 24oz water bottle is pretty close to a 100oz pack. (I like to do water in the pack and electrolyte drink in the bottle)

I really like the Osprey because it is slimmer in overall size, this is my anytime pack and there is sufficient storage space for most 3+ hr rides (assuming she’s carrying basic stuff – 1-2 extra clothing layers, some food, pump & tube, phone, etc.). the magnetic valve holder is a nice feature, but even better is the gel pocket on the strap!
I think some of the newer Camelbaks have been slimmed down too (wouldnt hurt to check out the weights on the new agent & luxe models for comparison sake), but like maddslacker’s wife I only use the Luxe when I tote around my big camera. try to avoid the extra bulk if you/she can, the bigger bags can trap a lot of heat on your back too.
happy riding!

I borrowed my wife’s LUXE once and quickly learned how differently they’re designed.
