Anthills trails in Houston to be partially destroyed for flood control

Most folks in Houston have probably already heard about this, but even as an outsider this is a major bummer.

To add insult to injury, the Flood Control board had this to say:

Large sections of the popular Anthills Mountain Bike Trail, which the district notes “were built on publicly-owned land without written permission and without compensation to the public” will be cleared, though a portion that sits between the 2 westernmost basins will remain.

I think most people, mountain bikers or not, would agree trails ARE compensation to the public as a recreational/natural amenity…
