I was turned around at the gate on Saturday (5/7/2011) due to heightened security measures. I’m not certain if having a DOD sticker would help or not. Anyone know if this "closure" has been lifted?

A bit late, but what the heck. Ban was lifted for awhile, and now there is a partial ban. Currently, you can ride the Falcon trail but you are supposed to stay north of the stadium and Stanley Canyon. Nobody will stop you, but technically the southern part of the loop is off-limits. I believe the restriction is in place due to the upcoming 9/11 anniversary.

Does anyone know if this is open yet?

Nope, all trails closed unless you have DOD identification or are with someone who does. Doesn’t seem likely it will be open in the near future. They won’t even let you use the New Santa Fe Trail anymore and can’t decide what will make that trail “secure”, much less the Falcon loop.
