A biker died after crashing on a local trail I frequent. Very sad. I was told he went over the handlebars on a particularly technical portion of the trail, and died upon impact. Remember to ride within your abilities, wear the proper safety equipment, and try and ride with someone if help should be needed. Mountain biking, like all sports, has its risks. If if you’re doing everything properly you may still be injured. Please keep this man and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Wow, I just heard about this–so sad. Prayers for the family and friends left behind.

This happened at Harbins Park east of Atlanta.

      Wow, that sucks.

Anyone know what trail at Harbins?

      Rim bender.

His name was Larry Steward, from Winder.

Watch this trail get closed in 3, 2, 1….

Seriously, this article is crap. You can tell that they’re trying to spin it as the trail’s fault, and not the rider’s for riding beyond his abilities/not riding in control.

That’s my concern as well, that the trail will be closed. This is the only article I’ve seen so far that sensationalizes rim bender with mention of videos, etc

Man, it’s a shame this happened, especially in this section of the park.

Only 5 days in, and another death. This time, from Central Point, Oregon: http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dl … /401050337

Man, that’s scary! In both cases, these guys didn’t run into anything like a tree or rock and both were wearing helmets.

No kidding! It seems like most deaths I’ve heard about on the trail are pretty freak occurrences.

      Ride safe, guys.

There is a third as well I believe, though I can’t find a link about it I do recall reading it and thinking that 2014 is being awefully cruel to us so far.

      Keep the rubber down everyone!

That sucks! Was he wearing a helmet?
