One of the fun joys of mountain biking for me is adapting your skills throughout the season depending on weather. Here in New England, there’s a solid inch of loose leaves on dang near every path around. I made 5 observations yesterday:
.) Leaves make turning at high speeds almost impossible.
.) Despite leaf coverage, the ground is still very hard.
.) Cleaning pieces of foliage out of your bloody wounds is awesome.
.) Trying to climb and having your back tire spin out on leaves is oddly humorous if you’re masochistic.
.) Wiping out in front of a parent and small child is hilarious, especially if you roll onto your feet and bow deeply while saying “graceful and delicate, huh?â€
