Welocme decker1x,and a great big hello from here in colorado. How is mountain biking treating you so far?Looks like you have decent bike in the rockhopper,I have a specialized as well although it is the stumpjumper model. There pretty tough bikes and for the money, there hard to beat.So where ya gonna ride this weekend?

So far so good. I’ve only been around the block on it tho, some squeaks coming from the front tire hub area. I’m going to ride all the back road and trail from my house to my dads(around 15-20 miles) should be fun.

Welcome decker and glad to have you aboard..

Check to see if your disk is rubbing slightly you can do that by lifting the front of the wheel up (your not on the bike) by holding the stem up just enough for the tire to clear the ground then spin the wheel and listen..I could be that the disk is just a bit off true. Or if you have V-Brakes listen and look to see if the rim contacts the brake pads.

Those two are the most common…Another thing that happens often is the dust seal from hub. Sometimes it will squeek there..If it does there, just a drop of oil will shut that up. Least for a while.

I’ll check the hub seal the noise seems to be coming from there. And I think I need to have my wheel trued.I forgot to add I have rim brakes. Thank guys for the welcome and I’m sure I’ll have a lot more questions for you.

ok i just took a ride up the hill behind my house and wow thats a workout! its actually a pretty cool hill.it has 7 different trails, some steep and some not so steep.when i got to the top i was dead! at least the ride down was easy.i think i got myself a good little workout hill, its a two minute ride from my garage to the bottom of the hill.

SWEET! My whole back yard is a hill and I would be more than willing to carve trails all over it but my wife just ain’t feeling it. Between the monster hill and all the trails running out to your dad’s place, it sounds like you have a great place to sharpen up. What’s Temecula like? Is it desert or forest or what?

Welcome aboard Decker1x. Funny how those hills seem so much longer going up than coming down. Remember riding a rail to trail with a buddy one time who was out of shape and he sweared it was uphill both ways hahaha.

Anyways hills get easier over time you just got to keep on trudging up them. Enjoy that Specialized and welcome again to the friendliest MTB forum around. CCR
