Hi, Has anyone tried converting the drivetrain of their Trek Session 88 FR (2009) from 1×9 to a 1×11?

Can you advise what’s best? The crankset is a Shimano Saint with 83MM BB.

I am thinking between the SRAM GX or the Shimano XT. but it seems they don’t have a crankset for 83mm BB.

Need some guidance from your experience or expertise please?

Are you wanting to change cranks for the conversion, as you could just keep the saints and get a narrow wide chain ring from some one like race face and then upgrade the rear cassette with what ever 11 speed you decided on. Obviously you’ll have to upgrade the derailleur, chain, and shifter as well. Personally I love sram so I would go with the gx, but be careful because the 11 speed gx needs the hd driver on the freehub since they all have the 10 tooth on them, so if you can’t or don’t have the hd drive then go with shimano.

Looks like the Bontrager Big Earl has no available XD conversion. I just had a chat with the Trek tech-support.

Isn’t that a park bike? Just wondering why you’d want 11 gears on it.

Lol hey I got a 10 speed on my park bike, too many pedally sections.

      Pedally? As in uphill?

Lol ikr, there’s a few uphill sections at trestle that drive me nuts.

One more bike in my garrage and my wife is gonna divorce me. So i will play with my drivetrain for now.
