I’ve run UST and non-UST tubeless set-ups. I have never heard of tearing the bead either. You can separate the bead from the rim in high speed corners. You’ll see sealant spewed on the tire. That’s generally at places like Whistler and Winter Park, where you are really flying through the corners. I have flatted both UST and non-UST set ups. No sealant can keep up with a bad puncture rather you are running tubeless or not. Where tubeless can fail uniquely is when you rip a lug from the tire. Tubes won’t be effected by this at all. Carrying a tube is more a requirement with tubeless than a tube set-up. I have had one flat I couldn’t patch well enough to get back to the truck. I have had three failures with tubeless that required a tube to resolve the problem.
