welp, I got the Apex back together. New tires and brakes. Cleaned and re-lubed everything. I was able to salvage the thumb shifters as they are indestructible. I pull all of the cables out and lubed them and the inside of the cable housings using a gun cleaning trick. Re-fit everything and now it rides like a champ. He is happy with it. It took me a few hours but it was cool to kick back a few cold ones with the old man and show him a thing or two for a change. As you can tell my dad doesn’t like change. He bought that truck in the picture brand new when I was 4. Im now 33 and he is still driving it so trying to upgrade parts on the Apex was not happening. His motto: “If it isn’t broke don’t fix it”. Me, I cant keep a bike, motorcycle, or vehicle longer than a few years and I get bored but I digress.
