I saw one of the first ‘big box’ fat bikes at Wal-Mart quite a while ago. Of course, my wife was along, and said “oh look, this fat bike is only $200- didn’t yours cost over $3000? You could have bought like 15 of these for what your Specialized cost.” My reply, after looking at the weight was “Yeah, and I’d have to reinforce the floor in the garage to hold them.” 54 pounds!! With rim brakes!! You get started down a hill on one of those things, and you’d better pray there’s one of those runaway truck ramps along the route ahead.
