Today we made an adjustment to the way points are awarded for photos and as such, the leaderboard has been shuffled around a bit. Singletracks member cavedweller is in first place, No1InParticular is in second place, and roadandmud is in third.

It might seem like the current leaders have an insurmountable lead but we still have a long way to go! In past contests, winners have needed around 2,000 points to claim victory; for this contest, the current leader has just over 700 points.

Yesterday our team noticed a pattern of low quality, off-topic, and redundant photos being posted so we’ve made a rule change regarding points for photos. First, it’s worth noting that once the contest period is complete we’ll look at every photo, review, and map posted by the leaders before confirming each person’s final point total, so please consider the quality of everything you contribute for the contest.

As a part of our final review of contest contributions, we’ll use our discretion to remove any content that’s off topic, low quality, redundant, or plagiarized. We’ve also decided not to award points for photos that aren’t tied to a specific mountain bike trail, piece of gear, race, or bike shop. You can read more details about this change in the official contest forum thread where I describe how members can fix previously submitted photos.

Finally, today’s tip: Get active on the Singletracks forums! Introduce yourself, ask (or answer) questions, or just share your stories. Points for each response will add up quickly! With more than 9,000 topics, if someone replied to every single thread (relevant to the discussion, of course), that’s worth 4,500 points. Or, if you’re at zero right now, you just need to reply to the first 1,500 or so posts to move into first place based on forum points alone. 🙂
