Wow, what a race! This World Cup season has seen some wild weather and Mont-Sainte-Anne was no exception. Just before the top 20 male qualifiers came down, the skies opened up, and absolutely dumped on the track. The rain seemed to actually improve the grip on the rock sections, but the rest of the course was a sloppy mess. Australian Dean Lucas — riding for Intense Factory Racing — had a long stay in the hot seat after qualifying in 34th, with rider after rider unable to best him time. However, as we got into the top 10 qualifiers, Lucas’s time looked like it could be beaten, assuming someone could put together one hell of a run. And someone did just that.
