This year I want to look back on 2016 in a different fashion. While in years past I would give a brief overview of the best adventures and trails that I rode, this year I simply want to share some of my favorite images of the year, as featured on Instagram. If these images pique your interest, please feel free to give me a follow at @mtbgreg !
My year in review, as told by Instagram:
Super fun drive down to #Crestone with @summerheil today—can't believe this is so close, yet we've never been there before! 14er views, a herd of elk, warm temps, good food–I'd say this excursion was a success! Pictured here: the #sangredecristo range on the way into Crestone, with Challenger Point front and center. #colorfulcolorado #mountains #14er #14ers #sangres #coloradolife #colorado #challengerpoint
Today is seriously my favorite day of the year!! Christmas, Halloween, the 4th of July, my birthday? Nope, #daylightsavings all the way! An extra hour of evening daylight is about the best thing the calendar can give me! To celebrate, @summerheil and I went down to #greatsanddunesnationalpark to FINALLY check out the tallest #sanddunes in North America… and we mixed in a hike to Zapata Falls to boot! What a great way to spend the best day of the year! #dst #daylightsavings #greatsanddunes #slv #sanluisvalley #sangres #sangredecristos
Trail check from Mammoth Lakes, California! The views are incredible here, and the few bike-legal singletrack trails outside of the bikepark are worth checking out! However, there's maybe a handful of them, total–almost all of the singletrack here is off limits to bikes. If you are just interested in trail riding and not downhilling, Mammoth is a great place to bring your bike for a quick early morning or evening ride, but NOT if riding is the main reason you're traveling. Stay tuned for more on this topic in a future #overabeer column. #mtb #mammoth #mammothlakes
View of Yosemite Valley from Glacier Point. As usual, pictures never do it justice… I couldn't believe how big Half Dome actually is until I saw it with my own eyes. And, I don't think I could fully grasp it unless I actually climbed the whole thing, either!! #halfdome #glacierpoint #yosemitevalley #yosemite #yosemitenationalpark
Absolutely amazed at some of the hidden gems that I continue to uncover in my local mountains! Explored the Tank 7 trail today and was totally floored by how excellent it was! These under-the-radar trails are out there just begging to be discovered, if only you have fortitude to go off the beaten path. #mtb ?#?1trailaweek?
