For the average mountain biker looking to get faster and improve their endurance, one of the best things they can do is lose some weight.  Almost all of us carry around a few (or a lot) of excess pounds that do nothing but hold us back.  MyFitnessPal is the app to help you drop those pounds!

When you first set the app up, you’ll enter your current weight and answer a few other questions about yourself.  You set a goal for how much weight you’d like to lose per week–anywhere from 0-2lbs.  The app then tells you how many calories you should be eating every day.

At the heart of the app is a massive food database, which allows you to easily and conveniently keep a food diary. It’ll keep a running count of how much you’ve had for the day, and how many calories you have left.  You can also log exercise, which counts as negative calories, so if you ride your bike you can eat more and still meet your daily goal!

Since this list was first published, MyFitnessPal has added Strava connectivity, allowing you to automatically import your rides and calories burned–convenient!
