We checked out the SORBA Woodstock MTB Festival this weekend and there was plenty to do and see. The festival was organized to celebrate the official opening of the new Area 51 trails and hundreds of riders came out to party.

Along with the usual mountain bike games (MTB limbo, highest bunny hop) we also witnessed a new one (to us anyway): the granny gear race. My initial thought was that racers would race as quickly as possible in their granny gear and we’d see some furious peddaling while riders appeared to barely move. Instead, it was a race to see who could cross the finish line SLOWEST without stopping or track standing – clearly not quite as exciting.  Also there was no Huffy toss – perhaps Huffy bikes are in short supply these days 😉

There were some interesting bikes on demo at the festival including a ton of munis (mountain unicycles) of all sizes and full-suspension mountain tandems. Enjoy the pics!
