Well I rode 5 miles and the chain did not come off. From what I understand with this Race Face chain ring you don’t need a guide.
From the description on Amazon:

New front chain-ring, cassette and chain installed. Weighed all the stuff I took off and it shaved a pound off the total weight of the bike. Not a gram junkie though. Hopefully I will try it out tomorrow or Sunday. Once the bike is washed I will update with photos.
Well I tried it today and it doesn’t work when I am on the bike. Works great standing next to the bike and pedaling with my hand but when I get on the bike and go it never works. I thought maybe the bluetooth on my phone or headset was causing interference so I turned all that off and same thing. I can’t move my body out of the way. I am thinking with the full suspension maybe when I sit on the bike something gets out of line so I will adjust and see if I can get it to line up.
Thanks for the advice. Now I just need to buy the parts and try. Also think I need a crank puller tool right?
Thanks. Will read the article now. And then just need to find a chain guide and possibly a new chain ring right from the start.
Received the cadence sensor yesterday. All is hooked up and going. Hopefully I will get a chance to use it this week and will post up more info. This will probably help with dropping signal occasionally while on the trail.
We usually try to go and stay at Mulberry Gap for a weekend in October. Won’t happen this year due to a friend getting hurt and having shoulder surgery. Make sure you ride Windy Gap if you go.
Tried it out Wednesday night. This thing was so bright I got 4 of us out after dark.
Went ahead and bought one. It was only $40.
It has a magnet on the pedal and frame. I may buy it anyways. Only $40
AWESOME!!!!! Can’t wait to try this light out.
Go out to Blankets quite a bit. A few of us heading out there Thursday around 6pm and Saturday morning.
I know it is a late response but the Runtastic Mountain bike app does have live tracking in the pro version:

And I picked up a Garmin 800 for $250. I am loving it so far. I like not taking my cell phone on rides with me. It is nice when no one can call or text to interrupt your ride.
I know this post is old but in case anyone sees this and is not sure as well. I have always used the ibycus maps. They are great.
