I’ve got the Stan’s kit installed on my Specialized Pitch Pro. Love it! Been using it for at least two years with no flats…

Minimal air loss, with no leaks. I just add air as necessary before each ride. I’m using the supplied yellow tape, and rimstrips.

Well, I know that the flats vs. clipless debate is ongoing and nothing new, but I’ll throw my two cents in. My first mtn. bike from 1984 had flats, my second mtn. bike from 1992 had toe clips, and I switched to clipless a few or so years later. I rode with clipless up until this past fall after purchasing an all mountain oriented bike. Over the years, my interest and riding has changed from XC riding and racing to technical riding, jumps, drops, and wooden structures. I absolutely do not like being clipped in for that style of riding. I don’t mind sacrificing some climbing efficiency, and honestly I haven’t felt like they hold me back on climbs anyway. As far as feet slipping off, it’s not really an issue, and I’m just riding in Vans. Eventually I’ll invest in some 510s, but for now the Vans work.

Not trying to convince anyone to use one style of pedal or another. Basically use whatever you like, are comfortable with, and gets the job done.
