That’s a great idea. When you finish building your track maybe you can come up to Michigan and build one for me.

What’s up? A little insight on myself, I’m 35 and live in northeast PA (approximately an hour north of Harrisburg).

I was never into mountain bike until the end of last year and now I really enjoy it. I started looking into bikes because I need cardio in my life and I HATE running so mountain bikes it is. Plus it will sort of get me back into the motorX world. I started doing research on what would work best for me and I ended up buy a 2010 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo in April. I have nothing to compare it to, but I really like the bike.

I’m looking forward to reading “How To” and/or upgrade thread. Thanks!

    Peace and chicken grease.

    Spade OUT!!

I searched everywhere in August for a Hoo Koo and NOBODY had one. I ended up with a 29er Gary Fisher Cobia.

I have Pearl Izumi Elite FF gloves and wore them in 90 deg days and never felt that I had sweaty or uncomfortable hands.

I bought a Camelbak Lobo this year and I think it’s one of the greatest inventions ever. My rides are usually under 2 hrs so I don’t need to carry 3 changes of clothes and a hair dryer. It’s nice to have the storage space too, for an extra tube and tools. The Lobo is perfect for the application I use it for.

in reply to: Time to go with Clipless Pedals? #92157

I finally went to clipless pedals. I bought some Eggbeater 2 pedals and am in the process of getting used to them. I do like the feeling you’re locked into the bike better, but I’ve been in some hairy situations knowing if I was clipped in I wouldn’t be able to clip out in time. That was my biggest dilema. I also got tired of my feet flying every which way while riding trails and not being able to pedal hard while shifting because of the lack of connection. I’m going to try some trails this upcoming weekend and hopefully have managed to learn to unclip well enough to not orphan my kid and widow my wife.

I was riding the Al Sabo trail in Kalamazoo MI and came around a corner and shoulder checked a jogger that was runing toward me. Obvioulsy this was a complete accident, and I would like to say that it wasn’t my fault. However, I’m sure she’s bitching to someone about the incident which could cause some fall out for mountain bikers. I think trails should be kept seperate for hikers and bikers. That way we don’t have to defend ourselves if something does happen because realistically, it’s not us that will get hurt as badly. It only takes a couple people to complain for us to lose precious trails.

Does anyone know of any other upcoming mountabike events that will be broadcasted?

in reply to: Clippers or no Clippers?? #75769

After all these years of my feet flying off the pedals at the worst times I have decided to go clipless. I bought some Crank Brothers egg beaters 2 which I’m still waiting to arrive in the mail. I crash as it is now, I’m sure I’ll be crashing a lot more in the future when I’m trying to get my foot out of the clip.

I rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy. 😼
