  • in reply to: Why I Uninstalled Strava #123728

    I tried strava but use mountain bike pro to measure my trails after that I just time myself. I only want to measure myself against myself to see improvements. Strava linked to social media just isn’t me.

    I ride with 2 "Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars" stashed in my under-seat pack. I like the Oat’s and Honey flavor. They are super easy to eat while riding.

    in reply to: filling the gap in a newly posted trail map #102387

    Golden Goose,
    I found out that the trail in question was marked as complete in my submission records so I submitted the section I rode and mapped recently. Now I have an additional "pending" on my account. I assume it will fill in the missing gap and the trail map will really be complete. I look forward to mapping many more trails. I do travel quite a bit so I’ll have the opportunity to ride many trails that are missing maps. I should get better at working with the system established on singletracks.com. Thanks for your help.

    in reply to: what GPS file format should I submit #102126

    Thanks for the response to this post. I have submitted the Mill Creek Steamway Park trail system using Garmin’s .TCX format. The files are a little bigger but there should be no errors. Thanks again for the help.

    It takes a day or two for the site to update the info. Check back on the trails in a few days.

    Thanks. I want to make sure it’s all working before I post more trails.

    Happy Trails :-}

    in reply to: Unknown Southern Arizona trails that I ride #98913

    This is my post. I submitted my first Arizona trail (Mexican border loop) and it is available. There are two problems with the trail post however and they are probably related. The trail head GPS application isn’t working. The GPS coordinates are 31.37782184 and -110.106525 but I can’t get them to "stick". The other related problem is that the trail head is listed as 0 miles from Bisbee and it should actually be about 13 miles from our traffic circle or 11 miles from the city limits. I would appreciate any help with this. i plan to submit several more trails in the San Pedro Riparian Zone region in the future.

    Just be aware that there is posted private land NORTH of the bridge across the San Pedro at HWY 92 which continues about 3-4 miles up to Hereford Road, the bridge across the river at that point. It is posted as no trespassing in many areas, and being aware of this will be appreciated by owners and save you potential hassles. (You can ride north on Palominas Rd and back onto the Riparian area at Hereford Road.) The riparian area does NOT extend all the way from the border up to Fairbank.

    AZterritory is absolutely correct. There is also a 3 mile section South of the ruins of the Charleston town site that is not part of the riparian zone. This is easily traversed by public roads (Escapule and Charleston Roads). Please do always respect all private property and obey all posted signs. I have submitted a trail from the trail head South of Hwy 92 to the Mexican border and plan on submitting others detailing all of the legal trails along the San Pedro Riparian Zone in the future. Thank you AZterritory for pointing this out. The mountain biking community needs to be respectful of land owners as well as non-bicyclist trail users. In particular along the San Pedro area we need to be respectful of the numerous "birders". Remember that bikes have the lowest right-of-way, horses having the highest and pedestrians rate above bikes. Kkeep everyone happy and enjoy safe riding.

    Okay, I understand how to submit new trails to the site now. i appreciate the replies to this post. Thanks for the help. I’ll be submitting several trails that are near my hometown of Bisbee, Arizona. Bisbee is a pretty popular road biking place but not a lot of people ride mountain bikes down here. Myself, I’m afraid of and don’t trust cars :-} I’m happy to be a member of this helpful web site and hope my future trail submissions will be useful to others.
