On a local trail about 7 miles from home. Some how busted the dropout that holds the rear derailer. Bent chain, spokes, derailer and more 😃 . It was early and I didn’t have the never to wake up my wife so I called my dad. No way I wanted to walk 7 miles in bike shoes. Plus I got to buy alot of cool new parts.

Here in Indiana there’s not hardcore DH riding availible. So I can not really relate. I have friends in the cool mountain bike parts of the country (AZ, CO) who don’t take full advantage of their resources. Glad to hear you are. 😀

I to have a camelback, I used it for about a year. The extra weight on my back gets on my nerves when I get in the mood to really thrash through some trails or the urban jungle. I’ve found the small packs the fit under the saddle seem to work for me. Them seem to hide the weight so I don’t really notice it as much. It’s amazing how much you can fit in them. Note the pump gets attached to the extra bottle holder mounts. 😀

I’ve had many flates. However I hate carrying the extra luggage to repair them. I’d always end up pushing the bike home. After the last 2.8 mile push I decided the extra stuff wasn’t that bad.

My buddy when down three times in the first 1.5 miles on a fairly easy trail this morning. I only saw the first one. after waiting for him I went looking. Found him at the truck with a riped shirt and sock, bleading from his left leg. His handle bars and front wheel bent. Once I found out he was OK, I laughted for over and hour.

It’s always hard to start a good work out once your in a funk. But once you make yourself do it and get the first taste, everything seems to fall back into place. There is no better way to clear your head than a good hard ride/workout. Good Luck!

As is with everything listed here this bike weighs in at 28.8 pounds and it could be made lighter really easy. This bike stock with it’s Fox Talas 32 RL and pedals weighed in at 28 pounds. The Talas 36 I installed is a little over a pound heavier than the stock Talas 32 RL I took off. Not bad! 😃
