Everybody keeps posting about 5 10s. Yes they are great shoes but I feel as if they are becoming Nike or Adidas of the MTB world (along with the price). I got a pair of Ion’s for $45 and before I saw those on the wall I was just about to say yes to the 5 10 freeriders. Then the price of the Ion’s caught my eye and I tried them on. Not only are the soles a lot stiffer, I also feel as if they are grippier as well.

    10/10 would recommend.

I haven’t come to this site in a few months. This is the first post I see. Wat?!

Who gives a fuck what you are, just send it my dude.

Just my two cents. I strongly agree with Plusbike. However, I would recommend the Trek Roscoe 8. 1×12 NX with the 2.8 wheels. It is a monster of a bike. I have taken it to some pretty sweet bike parks here in Germany and Austria. I have done blacks and double black trails with no issue. The plus size tires almost act like a rear suspension. I had knee surgery (2nd and 3rd ACL repair) in August of last year and then again March of this year, it’s been 6 months since my last surgery and I started riding again about 3 months ago, THAT’S how smooth that bike rides. Last year I had the Giant Stance 2 and even though it was a full squish, I wish I could do back and never gotten that bike (not that there is anything wrong with it). I have just been having way more fun with the Roscoe.

Lastly, no I do not work with or for Trek. lol

    Happy riding!

in reply to: Sram NX Eagle spare parts #265616

Anndddd, I just figured out how to directly call them and their warranty and parts department said that there is no way to get a spar part for the outer cage. They have one for the inner cage but not outer. So pretty much it’s just a Christmas tree ornament from here on out. Yippy!

Yeah, I don’t know what to do. There’s no way to contact SRAM directly so…

in reply to: Trek X-Caliber 8 vs Roscoe 7 vs Stache 5 #265451

I recently bought the Roscoe 8. All I can say is wow, I have absolutely no regrets and would buy the bike again if I had to. The 27.5+ tires are really nice. Rides a lot smoother than normal HT because those + tires act like a suspension of their own. The NX 1×12 drive train is really, really nice. Climbing is too easy now. Then the icing on the cake is the dropper post. If you’ve never ridden a bike that has one, once you do, you will never ride another bike that doesn’t have one.

If you have the extra $200 I would get the Roscoe 8. If you don’t, I would save up for a little bit longer. You will not be disappointed.

All of that being said, I love my Roscoe because it fits me and my style of riding perfectly. If you can, ride all three of those bikes, ask if they have a demo version and take it to a trail. Just because I’m speaking highly of the Roscoe 8 doesn’t mean it’s perfect for everybody.

in reply to: Upgrade or buy a new bike? #265417

I would upgrade honestly. I had a 2016 Cannondale Trail 7 and 29r and I was in the same spot. Upgrade or buy new. The amount of changes with frames and gear from 4 years ago, it wouldn’t make sense to upgrade. You would spend 500ish to get a better fork, drive train, wheels, brakes. I would just get a new bike. Just my thoughts though, do what you would like, you’re spending your money not mine. lol

Damn man, where did you hide the bowl of onion in my room?

Sorry to hear that but that’s a great way to always remember him.

TIL that Bicycle Blue Book is a thing. Thank you for that.

Awesome! I guess I know what I will be doing in Sept… well, as long as my Dr clears me for it. 😛

in reply to: Action-Cam Woes: Shaky/shoddy video #264962

Unfortunately, your best bet is a GoPro. That being said, check your Facebook market place. I bought two GoPro Hero 3 blacks, one for $75 the other for $35. They are both better and any off brand, brand new 2019 version. Also, a helmet cam will be best in your situation. A lot of stuff happens and you look towards it and your bars and chest mount don’t. If you’re looking to cover your butt incase something happens, then helmet mount is the way to go. Also to add, your head will kinda work like a stabilizer so the video will be a lot smoother than bars or chest.

in reply to: Having a hard time finding the right bike #264531

I had the Giant Stance last year and it was my first full squish. I bought a Roscoe 8 this year since I wanted a little higher tier hard tail. I can tell you waaaaahat, I’ve had more fun on my Roscoe than I ever did on my squish. You also learn a lot more on hard tails. If you’re just getting into it, that’s what I would recommend. Start with a HT and after a year or two then move onto a FS and you will be better off. I got injured last year and tore my ACL because I was lazy with my FS and learned the hard way. Now, I know I’m a lot better rider and I have my HT to thank for that.

Also, I think the Roscoe’s suspension is insane because of the 27.5+ wheels. The ride is nowhere near as hard as a regular 27.5/29ers.

    Just IMO though.

in reply to: $50 limit annnnnnndddd….. go! #264244

My wife and I recently just had a kiddo so she has been super busy and really stressed. We rarely, rarely buy each other gifts for anything. We surprise the other with a day trip; France, Italy, Belgium..etc. The best perk of being in Germany. She didn’t get anything wrong, I love what she already got me and I think it’s awesome she’s letting me get something else of my choosing.

But I found what I’m getting, tubeless kit with the crank bros mini pump. 😀

in reply to: "UUHHGGG! Well, I feel stupid" forgetting stuff #263860

Since I just started riding again I decided to buy myself a GoPro, wooooop! Well that very day that I bought it, I got home, got everything together super fast and took off on the trails. The trails around me are not far at all from me but it’s up hill for the first 5-7 miles so I didn’t even put my chesty on. Well I get to the top and theres a bench so I sit down and try to catch my breath since I’m so out of shape. However, I get really excited to FINALLY get some videos of me riding. I get everything together, put the chesty on, turn on the GoPro, just to hear the three beeps it makes when you don’t have an…. SD card.. I was a livid. There was a German couple that was walking by just staring at me while I was just calling myself a dumbass over and over again. lol

Well, you think I would learn, right? Next day, the same exact trail. Get to the top, sit down on the bench and while I’m huffing and puffing the entire time, I start to get my GoPro stuff out thinking this is the day. I have everything I need. Except the freaking case for the GoPro.. FeelsBadMan. I just sat there, didn’t move, just looked aimlessly into the woods.

I was still able to ride and do the trails I wanted but ever since I got into MTB I always wanted to get videos to show my wife and friends. After waiting 11 months of recovery and getting super antsy, I was stoked to finally get some.. Welp, not that weekend. lol Not as bad as forgetting your bike but still soul crushing for me.

What are y’all offering for a GFX designer? I might be interested.

in reply to: Hard Tail with Dropper, help! #263326

Heck yeah man! I’m loving this bike so far! Haven’t converted over to tubeless yet but will be doing so in the next few weeks! I can’t wait to get home everyday after work, even if it’s just to take the dog on a quick ride. lol I’m like a small child in an adult body. lmao

in reply to: Harsh but kinda true? Trail runners are lazy #263075

Oh, I know. I was honestly just messing around. lol

in reply to: Harsh but kinda true? Trail runners are lazy #263018

Better question is, who has the right away? Me flying down the trail 20+mph, at 200lbs, and a 30lb bike… or a 135lbs Karen or Manbun Matt that’s shuffling up a hill at .4 turtle speed.
