GNC’s AmpWhey 60 protein powder is a fantastic option if you’re in need of a low calorie, high protein, super concentrated source. It tastes great too. If biking is all you do, then it might not be the best option. However, if you do resistance training and things like trail running in addition to biking, then it’s a great option. All those other things like beef jerky, tuna, milk, eggs, etc. are all great supplementary options as well. Just make sure to space your protein intake throughout the day and get a good helping of it within 45-60 min after you finish your ride.
"NWRR" wroteIn the past 3 weeks I am making a valiant effort to return to mountain biking. My job is having a weight loss competition and I decided i would go for a sustainable fitness goal…
NWRR, it’s been a number of months since you wrote that initial post. How are you doing with your goals? How is your confidence level on your bike? Are you still riding the Raleigh primarily? Let us know.
These photos are awesome! I have only seen deer, lots of deer, on my exploits. No bears or turtles yet. I have seen black bear here in western PA, but not while riding. Hoping I will someday soon! 😄
Ditto on the Race Kings 😄
Wow guys those self built trails look awesome. Great job!
Wow that’s a really cool idea. How did it work out?
This was a while ago. Did you complete your mission?
Wow that looks like an awesome ride through some cool territory.
"mtbgreg1" wroteIf my bike isn’t creaking I know something is wrong. Just saying.
AMEN!!
"mtbgreg1" wrote[quote="schwim":3iyj8vyu]I’ve ridden my new clipless setup about 5 times now and haven’t fallen yet. My only thought to share is this: when I ride really sketchy sections, like rocky steep climbs where it’s likely I’ll get pitched to either side, I clip out and pedal via the arches of my feet, then clip back in when I get through it.
I wouldn’t recommend this because you are focusing on failure. Instead of trying to minimize the penalty WHEN you fail, focus on doing everything you can to guarantee SUCESS. Thinking positively and focusing on the right things will do wonders for your riding![/quote:3iyj8vyu]
This is really great advice. Yes it’s tough and kinda scary at first to have your feet attached to the bike, especially on those sketchy sections. But after a few times, you get used to it and it feels weird NOT having them attached. Also, the bumps and bruises will come either way. Might as well accept it and do everything you can to pursue full success instead of compromising.
No idea what race that is…but that dog is awesome! Makes me want a dog even more badly!
