I use Vans when i am riding my Flats. I have thought about getting some 5-10s but the vans are comfortable and cheap and work great. I mean how many skateboarders wear them because of the grip they get for flip tricks?
Man i hate to hear about anyone losing their life. I think we all forget that there are some inherent risks involved with this sport. I don’t know the rider or the skill level he had but this is a prime example of riding within your limits and also riding with someone. To be found by others means that he was riding alone and while the exact cause of death isn’t known it could possibly have been a serious injury instead of a death if medics could have been called quickly enough.
that’s a bit interesting.
Yeah i’d have to take out a second mortgage to afford one of those bikes.
June 8, 2013 at 14:38 in reply to: Movement toward allowing Mountain Biking in National Parks #119817Interesting to say the least. One thing i believe without a doubt is had MTBs been around when the NPS was established we’d never have this issue because they would all have singletrack in them. I do find it hilarious that hikers and horses are allowed but bikes are not. Like the rubber on our tires are somehow more impactful than aggressive tread on rubber soled hiking boots or a horse that weighs no telling what tearing up the trails with each horseshoed step.
I also like weightlifting. I’m currently working on mastering the 12oz curl. if i get that down i’ll start on heavier stuff
Nice work. Now all i need is a truck
Basketball and Golf are the other two sports that i play. both rather poorly but i enjoy it.
some nice work. I keep thinking about making an obstacle corse type trail in my backyard. I got two acres back there and think it would be nice to have a small trail with logs skinnies drops and rock gardens to practice on when i can’t make it to the trails because of my stinking long hours at work.
I find myself flip flopping on clipless myself. I like them but am just way more comfortable with the flats. Honestly my falls due to the clips have been pretty limited. a couple real quick stops followed by that eternally long pause as you feel your foot still clipped in and then the sudden sideways motion of falling over.
Of course i also have a pair of very cheap wellgos that never seem to act the same. one time they unclip fine and the next i feel like i have been superglued to my pedals.
looks like an awesome ride
So i sent Airborne an email about the guardian cause through research i found a couple concerns. on of which is the FD mount is a low mount and would rub the tires if they had a very aggressive tread. While i know the answer i asked them if it was possible to get the from the factory with a 2×10 i got thise in reply:

Hi,I am sorry we are not going to offer the Guardian in that set up.. but we are in a few months going to have a 2×10 X5 bike with nicer shock and it will be priced at just under 1,000.00. it’s called the Seeker.
so i may hold off a couple months and see what the specs are gonna be on the seeker.
That would be interesting since there are from what i can tell way more roadies in my area than mountain bikers. numerous cycling clubs that have tons of members but only a handful have or ride mountain bikes. I find that even more interesting since we are less than two hours away from The Womble and about 3 from Syllamo. Which regretfully i havn’t made it to either yet.
haha i did that when i first started riding again. I mistakenly thought that by climbing on a back i would be 15 years younger. I could barely walk the next day lol
"schwim" wroteThe two inarguable truths are you can race any bike and you can milk anything with nipples.
LMAO!
yeah after rereading my post when i was a wee bit more sober i seem to have answered the question myself. Just got a bit more to save up and then i will be purchasing one of these.
Just cause because you are [i:1l5dx66t]X [/i:1l5dx66t]tall that doesn’t mean you should have [i:1l5dx66t]X [/i:1l5dx66t]sized frame. if it is comfortable and rides well then i’d stick with it. If you’re just looking for a new bike i’d save up and get a real step up in quality. Lots of nice deals can be found on Craigslist in most areas.
"CraigCreekRider" wroteTake one on the local singletrack, you might be in for a fistfight. In the video they are ripping berms -literally. I don’t think that would sit well with those that do the trailwork.
Amen!
I know that here in arkansas one of the few state parks that turns an actual profit every year is the one that has about 10 miles of singletrack and hosts a sanctioned MTB race. Nearly everytime i go camping there every car and truck has a MTB strapped to it.
I do Concur on that point. For the people that want nothing more than to take something away or keep it to themselves this would be the perfect storm. I’m of the frame of mind that really it is an electric motorcycle but after rewatching it you are exactly right they are modeling it up as a Bike that can run on a motor not a motorcycle with pedals.
