I love my CB mallets! Like Gar said once you ride you will get used to getting out of them. It really does become second nature to unclip when you realize you are about to go down, or if you stall out in a knarly rock section.
I rock the Crank Brothers mallet 1. They are great for me but they are the only clip less pedals I’ve ever used. Reach out to you LBS and they might let you demo a set.
I have tubeless on my setup. I have fished some big thorns out of my tires and the stanns keeps me on the trail. I still will throw a tube in my bag just in case I completely blow something out. If you do go tubeless I would stick with stanns. I personally love the fact I can go down to 18 psi and still keep riding.
I cannot comment on the brands or bike but as far as fork travel goes i think you should be ok with the 100 mm travel. Unless you are going big off of jumps then you could want more travel.
I have 400 on my bars and 200 on my helmet and with that set up I LOVE night riding. I ride the same singletrack at night as I do in the day and I sometimes get faster times on Strava segments. It is a ton of fun if you can get a group of people together and go. I never understood why guys/gals were into it until I got some lights and went out with them.
You cannot miss with a 2 Brothers Outlaw IPA. I am not an IPA guy but this is a cannot lose situation.
Yes, they are a must buy. I went over the bars on my first ride and the helmet is probably what kept me out of the hospital.
