Jeff is the man: it’s fixed to just show April: http://www.singletracks.com/mountain-bi … biking.php

Woot! Look at us! Just made day 31 btw…it was so nice out when I went home for lunch that I figured I should ride my bike back…I didn’t track it today though 😉

Day 30 is in the bag! (It’s also day 33 of riding every day for me, I accidentally started the Friday before this kicked off 😳 )

So how many people are taking tomorrow off just because they can? 😆
I would, but we have a 30% chance of rain or greater Friday through next Thursday so I’m going to ride while the riding is good!

    I’ve lost 3 pounds…why stop now???

Day 30!!!! It was windy and not very warm, but I set a Personal Record on PetYKes and the entire "Lite Lunch" loop!

Day 29. Hardest day yet for me. Rain + a steady 20+ mph wind. I did just a quick spin around the block. dodging all manner of things being blow around. Tomorrow’s weather looks like more of the same. Oh well not going to quit now only one more day left.

Cheers to every one who took on the Challenge we can all use a round tomorrow.

Yesterday (day 29) was only the second time that I made ONE lap and called it quits. It was cold and windy, so I feel your pain! Today looks to be pretty nice though 😀 Happy 30th!

Today was a horrible day for riding here. To be honest I just didn’t want to. I was tired, not feeling great, and it was cold and windy outside. I put on my bike pants, but left on my sweater from work and my thin "dress" socks. I threw on a jacket and figured I’d go for like a mile around the park. I had to scrounge for my old bike helmet because my good one was in the BF’s car. I stuffed my keys and phone in my jacket pockets and headed out.

Within 50 yards my mood changed. It wasn’t so cold…windy, but not awful. I turned and headed for the river trail, which meant committing to at least five miles. That doesn’t sound like much, but I was originally planning on ONE! I crossed the train overpass on the pedestrian bridge with the wind threatening to knock me over. Would that chain link fence hold?

Finally I hit the river trail and the muddy and fast flowing Colorado came into view. The river trail is always windier than other parts of town, so at times I had to lean to the side to combat the wind. Still, I was having a great time! Then…I turned north to head home, having forgotten the forecast that said the wind would become north northwest with gusts to 25 mph. Who knows what I inhaled on the 2.5 miles home.

Finally, out of desperation, I began a two blocks north-one block west pattern to give myself breaks from the headwind. At least heading west I could look up. It was like I was pedaling through mud every time I turned north! By the last half mile I had to just picture the 90 Shilling beer I knew was waiti ng in the fridge.

Then, when I turned in the driveway and checked my time I realized I had hit 150 miles! All was right with the world again. Some days biking are definitely easier than others but they are all worth it.

Great pics! In all my trips to the Lunch Loops, I’ve never hit Gunny. Must rectify that!

Yes! You must! There are several great ways to ride it and, depending on how fast you are, it can take anywhere from a super fast 1 hour to closer to three. Mileage varies from 8.5 miles to 11.5 depending on which parking lot you leave from. It’s an awesomely fun ride!

Day 27: Gunny Loop. Man I love that trail! If you haven’t tried the "Gunnector" option (after the initial Gunny Loop climb from Little Park Road you’ll come to a split; Gunnector is the lower option) check it out. It’s one of my favorite trails! So we had an impromptu photo session out there yesterday. Even though Fat Tire Festival was still happening we ran into only one person on our entire Gunny ride!

It was SO windy in GJ today and there was a 70% chance of rain, but some friends and I got our butts in gear and managed five miles at Lunch Loop with dark clouds hovering overhead. Something about the wind must’ve added some urgency and confidence tommy riding because I cleaned three spots on Pet Y Kes that I don’t often make!

Day 19 was quite interesting. Ride of the day was the Rumble at 18 Road race in Fruita. Fruita, where it never rains . . . rained long and hard . . . race course was an unmitigated distaster 😬

Full article coming. For now, here’s a teaser:

I had a friend in the Cat 2 group (she won, btw) and she said she pretty much ended up carrying her bike down all of Chutes and Ladders. Glad they called the race and then sent everyone to the doubletrack! That evening her BF rode Prime and Chutes and said Prime was still in pretty good shape and that Chutes was…well, like it usually is. If it’s not trashed by rain it’s trashed by cows ;)

Met up with a couple of other Singletracks bloggers this weekend, cycling8r and delphinide. Both were out here with their spouses for the weekend doing some riding. Good times, good times! Only 9 days to go!

Went mountain biking on my lunch break today! We used the "Lunch Loops" for their intended purpose. 47 minutes later we were back at the car and on our way back to work. Pretty sure we don’t smell too bad…

    Morning commute wasn’t the greatest.

Although less than one mile out of the five is on pavement, I managed to screw it up. Traffic was starting to crowd me a bit, so I swerved right next to the curb–just as I approached a sewer grate. It looked solid enough to ride, but looks can be deceiving. Next thing I know, I’m body slammed into the asphalt at 25mph.

The bike took it well. Handlebars got about 30 degrees askew, easy fix. Front wheel’s gonna’ need trued, but I can do that when I get home.

However, the impact busted my cyclocomputer, took out one elbow from my shirt, and absolutely destroyed the only both comfortable and warm pair of cold-weather riding gloves I’ve ever owned.

I also did significant violence to my left elbow and right knee. Hungry coyotes are following the trail of blood all the way to my office.

Good timing, too. Hope some of this heals before my first race, this Saturday 😕

Geez skibum! That’s awful! So sorry to hear about your crash. Yesterday I took a chance and took a busier route to the riverfront trail. It has pedestrian/bike paths across both bridges that I have to cross, but I missed the second one! Thankfully there is a very wide shoulder to ride on and no cars honked at me. Biking with traffic is definitely not for the faint of heart! Glad you’re (mostly) ok.

My Sunday rainy wet ride consisted of one lap around the park. I ended up with water running down my raincoat and right down the back of my jeans! I don’t know how FunRover made it out in the freezing cold and snow, but nice going man!

Day #11. Today was a little bit tougher. One thing I definitely don’t want to happen is for this to become a chore. So today I did one of my favorite from-work lunch rides over to Connected Lakes on the Riverfront trail. It’s about 9 miles round trip, so it’s perfect for my one-hour lunch break! Frankie the bike and I even found some dirt!

in reply to: #30daysofbiking Challenge #124035

Well I haven’t gotten any extra "dirt" miles under my belt…just weekend days mostly, but I am greatly enjoying the fact that spring is here and I can bike to work!

The Brand Trails are pretty fun and the times I’ve ridden them they haven’t been crowded at all. For a short ride I like the Intrepid trail up at Dead Horse Point. As far as "good eats" Milt’s is the only thing that comes to mind!
