Thats Gatorback over at Alafia State Park in FL. The toughest trail at Alafia in my book, especially when it is not eroded. Its like the gate to hell for some! 😄 LOL….. 😆 😆 😆[/quote:2hh85euj]

I agree…..at Alafia River S.P. has got the toughest, and the humidity that will kick your butt trail at the park. I’ve been on the trail a couple of times there and was stoked when we got to the end with no major accidents.

What are you eating people? And for what kind of ride?

Carbs? High protiens? Steak and Eggs? Shark?

    Talk to me Goose.

I usually eat a Cliff Bar or a ProBar and plenty of water or a Propel to drink while out on the trail.

I’m looking at getting new grips & was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I read the most recent discussion where the Good ‘n Evil’s were recommended, but I didn’t know if those were best for DH. I pretty much only ride XC (that’s what you get here in Illinois). I didn’t know if there were any XC-specific grips, or if any grip would work as long as it’s comfortable. Thanks in advance for the info.

I installed the Moab Lock-On Lizard Skins about 2 months ago, and so far they have not slipped and failed me yet…….

Hey everybody i’m new to mountain biking and i was looking for some pointers on what to look for for my first bike. I got into biking as a summer job up in Colorado at a sumer camp and decided to look for some single track down here when i got home. I think the little big econ will be my first trail seeing as it’s about 15-20minutes from my house.

Anyway any pointers on brands of bike types would be very appreciated. I’m looking to spend anywhere from 500-700$ tops, and and suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance guys

Hey, Welcome to the Singletracks World…….this sport is very addictive, so be very careful……if not careful you will find yourself in very deep and can’t get enough of the trails….. 😆 😆 😆 😆 ….. however its great exercise compared to be sitting on the couch watching the tube…..
Check out Cannondale which I have and have been very happy, also check out Trek & Specialized……do some shopping and ask questions to find the ride that you would be happy with……good luck

I use Windows Wallpaper Changer to automatically change my desktop every 15 minutes to a different picture that I have set up in a folder where I have all my best photos located. I never get board with the same picture and most people that come in my office always comments on which ever picture that happens to be showing up on my 21" flat panel…..keeps life interesting that is for sure…..good luck, 😎

220 minus age not good if your trained, hmm, here is the point.

Mine should be 168, years on a single speed has me riding all day there on climbs. This year set Max for 175 because that was a couple points over my highest.

Did a Duathlon in 1:05 with 54:06 90% and over, felt like i was racing, but no where near Max, how can I figure true Max.

Being an old FART, proper training is ever more important

Doah, make mine a single speed

the formula that I use is 220 minus "your age" is your suggested "Maximum Heart Rate"…… times 80% = target HR for a cardio workout or if your into fat burning workout take your max HR times 65% = fat burning workout…….I will ride with those figures in mind for 1 to 1.5 hours maintaining my HR close to those ranges as possible……hope this helps 😃

[quote="Goo"]So I’ve been thinking… with 16,412+ mountain bike photos here on singletracks, there are way way way too many photos for us all to sift through and look at. So, I was thinking, since we know have a super-slick "share" link on the photo pages, we should "share" photos on here.

Post up a photo that you think is pretty sweet. Could be one you’ve taken, or one you found; somebody riding, a snap shot of a sweet trail, or some epic scenery that you saw while riding. Whatever it is, we’ll all get to check out some of the sweetest photos on singletracks, including a whole bunch that maybe don’t have a whole bunch of "five" ratings and are pretty hidden.

    Here is mine……

Remember back in September (or was it August) when Garmin announced the new color screen, mapping capable Edge GPS series? The word then was that they’d be available in time for the holidays, then it was early 2008, now it’s …?

I saw that Performance Bike had the Edge 705 listed on their website and about a week ago it said "Shipping on Feb 8." I went back on Feb 9 and the site said "Shipping Mar 7." Somehow I don’t believe it will ship in March, perhaps we’ll have the 705 by Christmas 2008 ;) Anyone else waiting for these to become available?

just noticed you blog…..I got mine last April 2009…..I do like the color screen, however…..just a little too pricey 😕

I know theres a few teckno geeks out there. 😆 At least more knowledgeable than me on videos cameras and such.

Seems like the latest and greatest thing out is something like the Vholdr Contour HD. Also googled into the Go Pro Helmet Hero in the price range I want (<$200 with memory card). I am guessing the Contour HD camera is considerably more expensive.

Questions to ponder. The HD videos I have seen on VHoldr were great, but my computer would only run a few seconds and pause for 10. I have Verizon Wireless service which works OK but is not fast like DSL. It is portable and I like that a lot. So is this a case where the video technology is that far ahead of the internets capability to transfer the data to the masses? If thats the case the Go Pro may be my ticket for the forseeable future. Or, will I be purchasing ancient technology that is obsolete as soon as I buy it?

    Appreciate your thoughts on this.

I purchased the ContourHD by VholdR.com a couple months ago…..well worth the money $279 ……spend the little extra for the compact, light, easy to use and uploading is a breeze…..if you use a video editing software like "PowerDirector" you can make some really great videos to re-live the trails that you have ridden. Uploading to YouTube and sites the same is just as easy…… 😃

Now that’s funny 😆 😆 😆 …….oh and about the showers……. who said clothes?????? 😮 ………. just kidding 😆 😆 !!! Thank God the MTB parks here are considerate enough to help cool us down a bit and wash the mud, sand & ect. off of the bikes.

That is on the "Hoh Chi Minh" trail on the Turkey Creek MTB trail? One of the hotest days I have ever ridden……I rode the trail about 6 times and it was about noon……I drank 100 oz of water and 2 16oz of Propel and 2 Clif bars……I didn’t think I was going to make it back to the condo….thought I was going to pass out from heat exhaustion……remember I was on vacation in Cocoa Beach a couple of weeks ago & was hoping to see the Shuttle launch, but as usual the cape delayed…..
