We had plans last Saturday to ride York River State Park, but after four days of rain and snow, riding dry trails was highly unlikely. We went to the back up plan vault, which at a high level meant riding fire roads. Having only been there once before to ride singletrack, we didn’t know what to expect.

I’ve written before about Plan B. Sometimes our greatest adventures can result when we are forced to pursue alternative plans. I won’t go so far as to say that this Plan B was "all time", but it was definitely a worthy experience of its own, and one I might not otherwise have experienced and enjoyed.

By the way, there are miles and miles (and miles) of new singletrack being cut in as we speak. YRSP may very well be a bona fide destination trail once they are open. If you feel like helping out, contact EVMA.

      Very cool shell pictures.

Looks like a great place to ride, float and explore.

YRSP has been my plan B trail for when I’m in the area and Freedom Park is too wet to ride. I like the flow of the place although their black diamond trail isn’t exactly black diamond, or blue…it’s barely green lol. I am stoked to see what new stuff is ahead though! Last time I was there, there was a rather large trail crew working on the new trails. Cool to see that many people into it. Sadly, that type of dedication is hard to find in northern va.

One more vote for shell picture and "making tracks". Other pictures are great too, just those two really caught my eye.
That wood in your wheel is huge – its definatelly luck that bike is still in good condition.
