Jeff published an article back in 2010 about mountain bike beers, but I know there are WAY more MTB-branded beers out there nowadays! What’s your favorite MTB beer? Fill us in, and we’ll put together a new list of the most popular ones!

I’m a fan of the heavy beers. Guinness is my widely available favorite, but any stout will do.
But hey, I’m no snob. I dig PBR and Coors Light because that’s what we usually have after races, workdays etc.

I’m a big fan of Shiner Bock after a ride in the summer. Not really a MTB beer thought.
Ellicottville brewery’s Harvest and American Pale have been my go to for the fall.

I object to Guinness being a heavy beer. It is light, therefor it "floats" on Bass. Also has 10 calories more and about the same alcohol amount as bud lite.

Hopworks in Portland has a beer called "Bike IPA." Anyone tried it?
Moab Brewery also seems to have several bike-themed beers, though I doubt you can get them outside of Moab.

I haven’t had the opportunity to try any of their beers yet but a new place has opened in St. Petersburg, Fl called Cycle Brewery. They have some cycle themed beers like "Freewheel" and "Fixie IPA.

Dales Pale Ale! My favorite mtb beer and my 2nd favorite IPA. (2nd to Raging Bitch). It’s brewed by MTBers in Colorado so it pretty much HAS to be good. 😀
New Belgium’s Shift is really tasty too.

Bristol Brewery in Colorado Springs has a nice seasonal pilsner called Yellow Kite. That’s really nice after a hot summer ride.

There’s a brewery in VT that makes Switchback Ale, served at the pub house directly next to the Kingdom Trails main office. I always take one of those for the post-ride beer when in town!

Leinenkugels Canoe Paddler. While I prefer porters & stouts Canoe Paddler is such a refreshing beer. Great post ride beer.

I’m kind of a red guy. It may not be exclusive or local, but I’m always happy with a Killians. I got hooked on Alaskan Amber after a hard day of skiing, and that seems to carry over well to cycling. And these days, truth be told, I don’t often drink beer, but when I do after a day of riding and while gorging my self on a big Mexican meal, it has to be Dos Equis Amber.

We ( unfortunatly) dont have MTB beers in Québec. So ill go with some local double IPA, imperial stouts, or scotch ale.
Jeff, i did try Moab Brewery last year and i was quite disappointed. The beers where not really tasty.. I did bought a glass though with the " Scorpion ale" logo on it. " The ale that sting" It says 😏
We also tried the Polygamy porter from Salt Lake city and a bunch of IPAs from Colorado during that trip…

For me, nothing can top a good strong IPA after a long ride. Sierra Nevada Torpedo is a good one that is usually available for a pretty good price.

I personally am not a fan of IPA’s but as for bike related beers Singletrack Copper Ale by Boulder Beer (CO) and Stump Jumper Gnarly Stout from Rock Art Brewery (VT) were both pretty good.

Utah Brewers Co-op also has Squatters Full Suspension Pale Ale.

Cold trail ale is my choice. Cold trail is brewed in Thomas wv at a local brewery. Only a few places around town that carries it. Shiner Bock is a good choice as well.

How many breweries have there own in-house bike company? I can only think of Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, CO. Besides great beer like Dale’s Pale Ale and Deviant Dale, they also have REEB Cycles (for the slow that is beer spelled backwards) With the HQ of REEB being at the location of one of the breweries restaurants, "CylHOPS Bike Can-Tina"

I read something a while back about New Belgium and Patagonia teaming up for a brew, but haven’t seen it locally. Anyone tried it?
I’ve enjoyed a great variety of trail beers, but none that were specifically mountain biking themed come to mind. One of my faves though is an Ellies Brown Ale.

Anything from Oskar Blues, Dales Pale, Old Chub etc….and for christ’s sake they make kick ass bikes called REEB (beer backwards if you haven’t heard…. 😃 )

I like my beer hoppy and flavourful -So Boneshaker IPA is a personal favourite, and it has a skeleton riding a bike on the bottle so I think it just about qualifies for this list

I don’t recall having tried a specific "biking" beer other than Fat Tire. I used to live in Longmont and have always loved Dale’s Pale Ale – have you tried their Old Chub Scottish ale?? What a fantastic beer but at over 8 % alcohol, especially after a ride, prepare to be leveled.
My favorite beer of all time has to be Billy’s Chilies by Twisted Pine in Boulder. Infused with 5 different kinds of chillies, it’s like a little fiesta in your mouth – I swear, you’ll even hear mariachi music coming from the bottle! Olè!! 😄

Not a fan of IPAs either. Always love a Fat Tire and almost any Mexican beer after a ride.

I’m not a beer drinker. Never been a fan of the taste, which is a blessing and a curse, as I’ve never had to worry about that source of mostly empty calories adding girth to my gut, but I’ve also been in social situations where I’d have benefited from enjoying a beer or two….or six. Heh. So I guess another benefit is that I’ve never been a heavy or frequent drinker.
Having said that, while I know a lot of people enjoy a brew after a ride, I never knew that “MTB beers” were a thing.
Now I’m wondering…is ‘MTB whiskey’ a thing?? Is there a MTB whiskey anyone knows of?? I could probably get on-board with that… lol

I’m like charding, not a beer drinker. But I do like me some rum. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a mountain bike themed whiskey, or any other hard liquor. But did come across this… (not that it has anything to do with “What’s your favorite MTB beer?”)
Jamaican Mountain Bike: 1/2 oz Vodka, 1/2 oz Melon Liqueur, 1/2 oz Creme De Banana, 1/2 oz Coconut Rum, fill cream.
Over ice (and double the ingredients), that might not be a bad sip after a 100 degree, 80% humidity, north Texas ride. Just not as convenient as pulling a can of beer out of a cooler at the trail head. Probably not as “cool”, either.

MTB whiskey is definitely a thing. 🙂 The good thing about whiskey (and any other liquor for that matter) is it’s more packable than beer and it doesn’t need to be kept cold. A small flask is all you need to bring, whether it’s on a bikepacking trip or just a casual ride.
I don’t know of any whiskey that’s branded for mountain bikers specifically, but it definitely goes the other way: Whiskey Bike Parts, Whiskey Off Road, etc.
