The Wausau School District has purchased 70 new mountain bikes using federal grant money intended to help improve physical education and health programs.
The bicycles, along with helmets, repair stands and basic tool kits, will be distributed to Wausau East and West high schools for course-related uses, and are one part of an overall effort to expand students’ knowledge about fitness and nutrition.
The U.S. Department of Education awarded the three-year, $1.7 million Carol M. White Physical Education Program grant about a year ago.
